Behavioral Health Initiatives and Opioid Screening and Treatment Reminders

The CMS Behavioral Health Strategy covers multiple elements including access to prevention and treatment services. Medicare pays for services beneficial to the mental well-being of Medicare beneficiaries. Those services include Psychotherapy for Crisis, Behavioral Health Integration including the Collaborative Care Model, and Opioid Use Disorder screening and treatment.

To support the behavioral health initiatives and raise awareness of Medicare coverage for these services, Medicare Administrative Contractors mailed providers information about these services in October 2023. A copy of the letter and links to coverage and billing details for these services are listed below.
