Using the Correct Provider Transaction Access Number

Published 08/04/2023

If you are part of an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) with more than one location and multiple Provider Transaction Access Numbers (PTANs), please make sure you are using the correct PTAN when submitting Pre-Claim Review (PCR) requests. The beneficiary’s service location is key when selecting the appropriate PTAN.

A PCR request with the incorrect PTAN may result in a mismatched Unique Tracking Number (UTN) on the final claim. If the UTN that is used on the final claim is associated with a different PTAN, the claim will stop for prepayment review and you will receive an Additional Documentation Request.
